We live in a society that is constantly changing and evolving. The most unfortunate consequence of this development is the damage that human beings have caused to the world. One of the main causes of global warming and a serious threat to the world is the carbon footprint left by humanity.
Modern life has put too much pressure on the earth’s resources. At this point, we have to do our best to protect what is left of the environment. The type of lighting used in homes, offices and schools plays an important role in the carbon footprint. With a small change to environmentally friendly LED lighting products, we can make a big impact for our planet and future generations.
1) LED Products are Long Lasting
One of the reasons LED lighting products are considered environmentally friendly is that they are designed to last longer than traditional light bulbs. LED lighting products can last up to 20 times longer than standard lighting solutions such as incandescent bulbs or halogen bulbs, which have a positive impact on the environment. LED products will last longer, meaning fewer bulbs are produced and don’t need to be replaced as often. Remember, when it comes to the environment, we must follow the “less is more” rule. So using fewer lighting products means fewer resources will be needed for production, packaging and transportation.
2) No Toxic Elements
If you pay attention to the ceilings of the buildings you enter, you can see fluorescent tube lights in most of them. These tube lights are very poor at saving energy. They are also considered very harmful to the environment because they contain toxic chemicals and elements, including mercury. When disposed of in landfills, these toxic elements leach out of the product and create environmental pollution. Therefore, these products must be disposed of in accordance with specific procedures, i.e. they must be disposed of by specialized waste carriers due to their hazardous nature. LED lighting products, on the other hand, do not contain hazardous substances and are much safer for the environment. They can also be disposed of together with household waste, which does not require any regulations for disposal after use, which means getting closer to the goal of a smaller carbon footprint.
3) LED Lighting is More Energy Efficient
LED products are 80% more efficient than traditional lighting products such as fluorescent and incandescent lamps. LEDs convert 95% of energy into light and give off only 5% as heat (with heat sink). LED lighting products also consume much less power than traditional lighting products; a typical 84-watt fluorescent can be replaced with a 36-watt LED that gives the same level of light. Using less energy reduces demand from power plants and reduces greenhouse gas emissions.
4) LED Lighting Reduces Light Pollution
LED products are inherently focused. Thanks to these features, LED products contribute significantly to reducing light pollution by reducing unwanted scattered light in the environment. This means that we protect hundreds of animals around the world that are affected by light pollution.
5) LED Products are 100% Recyclable
Most of the components used in the production of LED products are recyclable. They can be easily dismantled and disposed of. Because they can be recycled, they help reduce waste.
